Student Worker - Mayborn Museum Summer Makerspace Student Worker

About the role#

Baylor University is seeking a Student Worker to support the Mayborn Museum Makerspace, known as the Design Den, during the summer of 2026. This role focuses on facilitating hands-on tinkering activities, supporting museum events, and contributing to program evaluation and documentation.

What you'll do#

• Facilitate activities in the Design Den, including preparing supplies, testing prototypes, and leading visitor engagement.
• Provide high-quality customer service by interacting with museum visitors using making and tinkering strategies.
• Assist with the setup, teardown, and execution of STEM programs and general museum events.
• Support and train fellow student employees and volunteers within the Makerspace.
• Manage supply inventory, organize storage areas, and coordinate reorders.
• Conduct research on program evaluation, perform qualitative and quantitative observations, and assist with documentation.
• Participate in regular reflection meetings to discuss programming and tinkering practices.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment as a student in a relevant field, such as Communications, Human Resources, or Psychology.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain inventory.
• Experience or a strong interest in planning and facilitating educational programs.
• Ability to provide high-quality customer service to museum guests.
• Capability to perform detailed observations and assist with data documentation.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule.
