About the role#
This position supports the Mayborn Museum Makerspace, known as the Design Den. The role focuses on facilitating hands-on activities, engaging with museum visitors, and assisting with STEM programming throughout the summer. You will work closely with the Museum Engagement team to ensure visitors have a positive experience while helping to maintain the functionality and organization of the space.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate activities in the Design Den, including testing, prototyping, and leading sessions for visitors.
- Provide customer service by engaging with museum guests using making and tinkering strategies.
- Manage supply inventory, coordinate reorders, and keep storage areas organized.
- Assist with the setup, teardown, and facilitation of various museum events and programs.
- Conduct research on program evaluation and take detailed qualitative and quantitative observations during events.
- Participate in regular reflection meetings to discuss tinkering practices and programming.
- Support the Museum Engagement team with general museum programming as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student, with a preference for majors in Communications, Human Resources, or Psychology.
- Availability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage supply logistics.
- Experience or a demonstrated interest in planning and facilitating educational programs.
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service to diverse audiences.
- Capability to document observations and assist in research-based evaluations.

- Compensation: $10 per hour.
