About the role#
This student worker position supports the market garden and farm operations at World Hunger Relief. The role involves hands-on agricultural work, community outreach, and educational instruction. This is a paid, part-time position requiring 8 to 20 hours per week, with scheduling determined by applicant availability and farm needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist with market garden tasks including harvesting, planting, and weeding.
- Educate, train, and instruct volunteers and clients on sustainable agriculture, composting, and food justice.
- Support the preparation and staffing of the Farmer's Market.
- Facilitate community outreach and educational programs both on the farm and in the community.
- Perform routine errands as required for farm operations.
- Communicate the mission and values of the organization.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Physical capacity to lift 50-100 lbs.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and manage tasks independently.
- Previous experience with small-scale, sustainable, or regenerative agriculture is preferred.
- Preferred majors include Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Public Health, or Marketing.
