About the role#
This student worker position supports the market garden and farm operations at World Hunger Relief. The role involves hands-on agricultural work, community education, and farm maintenance. This is a paid, on-site position based in Waco, Texas, for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with market garden tasks including planting, weeding, and harvesting.
- Help prepare for and staff the Farmer's Market.
- Educate and instruct volunteers and clients on topics such as sustainable agriculture, composting, and food justice.
- Support community outreach and educational programs both on the farm and in the local community.
- Perform routine farm errands and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Communicate the mission and values of the organization to external partners and the public.
What you'll need#
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Physical capacity to lift between 50 and 100 lbs.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Previous experience with small-scale, sustainable, or regenerative agriculture is preferred.
- Majors in Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Public Health, or Marketing are encouraged to apply.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at Spring Lake Farm.
- Schedule: 8 to 20 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with potential for Saturday shifts.
