Student Worker - Fitness Instructor/Trainer(Summer 2026) - BC

About the role#

This position involves instructing and training FitWell Group X classes, including F45, within the Baylor University Campus Recreation department. The role is designed for students interested in health and recreation services who can commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week between 5:45 AM and 10:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday.

What you'll do#

• Plan, develop, and lead safe and effective group fitness classes based on recognized industry guidelines.
• Monitor participants to ensure proper technique, posture, and movement for safety.
• Provide guidance and resources regarding routine fitness and wellness questions.
• Maintain the safety, security, and cleanliness of the facility and equipment.
• Execute risk reduction measures and provide care during emergency situations.
• Deliver excellent customer service to all clients and visitors.
• Encourage the campus community to maintain active and healthy lifestyles.

What you'll need#

• A nationally recognized group exercise certificate.
• Ability to obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass a State of Texas criminal background check.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate members during class sessions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• While prior teaching or training experience is not required, it is preferred.
• Majors in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Nutrition, Public Health, or Real Estate are encouraged to apply.

• Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Pay Rate: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour.
• Work Modality: On-site.
