About the role#
The Fitness Center Attendant position supports the Baylor University Campus Recreation department by maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. This role is responsible for daily operations within the McLane Student Life Center and requires a commitment to customer service and facility safety.
What you'll do#
- Greet patrons and track attendance.
- Clean, organize, and ensure the safe use of all exercise equipment.
- Educate patrons on Fitness Center usage policies and assist with spotting as needed.
- Perform business operations duties and assist with various projects and tasks related to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all university policies.
What you'll need#
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Proven time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- A professional demeanor.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting to organize gym equipment.
- Preferred majors include Kinesiology, Health Administration, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas (McLane Student Life Center).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, and Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Minimum of 7 hours per week, with availability required between 5:45 AM and Midnight, Sunday through Saturday (weekends required).
- Compensation: $10.00/hour.
