About the role#
This position supports local elementary students with their reading homework. As a tutor, you will work directly with students while coordinating with the CIS Volunteer Director to ensure program objectives are met. You will also represent Baylor University in the local community, helping to maintain partnerships and provide information about program resources.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with reading homework and maintain positive relationships with them.
- Complete detailed service logs and keep accurate documentation for each student.
- Coordinate with CIS staff on scheduling and the implementation of tutoring services.
- Attend required meetings and professional trainings to improve tutoring effectiveness.
- Assist with community projects, outreach activities, and workshops as needed.
- Ensure all program activities follow district policies and maintain student confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University and Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in diverse environments and handle various job tasks.
- Computer proficiency and a professional appearance.
- Ability to transport yourself to the work site.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Employment: Part-time, rolling term.
