About the role#
This role supports the Mission Waco afterschool programs by teaching art, music, and dance to children and youth. You may also work with adult program participants at Manna House and My Brother’s Keeper. This is an off-campus student worker position that requires reliable transportation. You must be eligible for Federal Work-Study to qualify.
What you'll do#
- Teach art, music, and dance classes for children and youth programs.
- Recruit program participants to join your specific field of arts instruction.
- Collaborate with staff to organize performances, productions, and summer camps.
- Oversee art, music, and dance initiatives for youth and members of the local community.
- Supervise volunteers or interns who assist in your classes.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the creative arts facilities.
What you'll need#
- At least one year of training or performance in art, music, or dance.
- Prior experience teaching and working with children or youth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact compassionately with others.
- A flexible schedule with availability during afternoons, early evenings, and some Saturdays.
- Enrollment in majors such as Art, Communications, Psychology, or Human Resources is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, typically Monday through Thursday between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
- Pay: $11.00 to $12.50 per hour.
