About the role#
Certified Personal Trainers provide safe and effective workouts to a diverse population, including Baylor University students, faculty, staff, and their families. Trainers are responsible for designing exercise programs for clients of all abilities, providing necessary modifications, and educating clients on the safe use of exercise equipment and facilities. This position requires the development and implementation of one-on-one, partner, and group training sessions.
What you'll do#
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients.
- Conduct new client intake processes and perform fitness assessments during initial sessions.
- Create and develop exercise programs tailored to individual fitness levels and personal goals.
- Plan, prepare, and lead safe training sessions while maintaining regular communication with clients regarding scheduling.
- Manage client documentation, including assessments and program updates, on a weekly basis.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and punctuality at all times.
- Assist with departmental special events and attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Monitor facility and equipment conditions, reporting any issues to staff and supervisors immediately.
- Adhere to all university, department, and program safety policies and emergency protocols.
What you'll need#
- A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (such as ACE, NASM, NSCA, or ACSM) and current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong knowledge of exercise programming, design, and injury prevention.
- Proficiency in proper spotting techniques and the safe use of all fitness equipment and machines.
- Ability to positively motivate and support clients throughout their fitness journey.
- Successful completion of required Youth Protection Training and a background check.
- Enrollment as a student, with a preference for those in the Kinesiology major.
Location & details#
- Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2027 and Winter 2028.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position at $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule available Sunday through Saturday.
