About the role#
Certified Personal Trainers at Baylor University provide safe and effective workouts to a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and their families. This role involves designing exercise programs for all fitness levels, teaching the safe use of equipment, and maintaining a professional environment in the McLane Student Life Center. This is a paid, part-time position requiring a minimum of 10 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Conduct new client intake processes and perform fitness assessments during initial sessions.
- Create and document personalized exercise programs that align with client goals.
- Lead one-on-one, partner, or group training sessions while providing necessary modifications.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding training schedules and updates.
- Maintain client confidentiality and keep training records current.
- Support department events and attend mandatory staff meetings.
- Report equipment or facility issues to the Fitness Center staff.
What you'll need#
- A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (such as ACE, NASM, NSCA, or ACSM).
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong knowledge of exercise programming, design, and injury prevention.
- Proficiency in spotting techniques and the safe use of fitness equipment.
- Ability to positively motivate and support clients.
- Completion of required Youth Protection Training and a successful background check.
- Preference for students pursuing a degree in Kinesiology.

- Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, Sunday through Saturday.
- Term: Fall 2027 and Winter 2028.
