About the role#
Certified Personal Trainers provide safe and effective workouts to a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, and their families. This position involves designing customized exercise programs for all fitness levels, providing necessary modifications, and educating clients on the proper use of fitness equipment and facilities. Trainers develop and implement one-on-one, partner, and group workout sessions that align with client goals.
What you'll do#
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients.
- Plan, prepare, and conduct safe and effective training sessions.
- Conduct new client intake processes and fitness assessments.
- Create exercise programs tailored to individual fitness levels and goals.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding training schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive client training information.
- Update client documentation, assessments, and session records weekly.
- Assist with department special events such as Late Night and Free Week.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and annual training sessions.
- Report equipment or facility issues to staff and supervisors.
What you'll need#
- A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (such as ACE, NASM, NSCA, or ACSM).
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong knowledge of exercise programming, design, and injury prevention.
- Proficiency in the use of all fitness equipment, machines, and training facilities.
- Understanding of proper spotting techniques and related safety protocols.
- Ability to positively motivate and support clients.
- Successful completion of required Youth Protection Training and a background check.
Location & details#
- Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2027 and Winter 2028.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position at $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week with flexible scheduling available between Sunday and Saturday.
