Certified Personal Trainers at Baylor University provide safe, positive, and effective workouts to a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, and their families. This role involves designing and implementing personalized exercise programs for individuals of all fitness levels and abilities, while ensuring clients are educated on the safe use of equipment and facilities.
What you'll do#
- Plan, prepare, and conduct safe, effective one-on-one, partner, and group training sessions.
- Perform new client intake processes and fitness assessments.
- Create exercise programs tailored to specific client goals and fitness levels, providing modifications as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding training schedules.
- Document client assessments, programs, and session progress on a weekly basis.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional standards, including punctuality and appropriate attire.
- Assist with department special events such as Late Night and Free Week.
- Follow all emergency response protocols and report equipment or facility issues immediately.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and annual training sessions.
What you'll need#
- A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, NSCA, ACSM) and current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong knowledge of exercise programming, design, and injury prevention.
- Proficiency in the proper use of fitness equipment, machines, and training facility layout.
- Mastery of proper spotting techniques and safety protocols.
- Ability to positively motivate and support clients.
- Ability to pass a background check and complete Youth Protection Training.
- Preferred majors include Kinesiology, Health Administration, Nursing, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
- Terms: Fall 2027 and Winter 2028.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Minimum 10 hours per week with flexible scheduling available Sunday through Saturday.
