Grant Writing Intern

About the role#

The Grant Writing Intern will work with Charity Champions to secure funding for local nonprofits. This role involves researching potential funding sources, drafting proposals, and communicating the mission of the organizations to prospective donors. Interns will balance independent research with collaborative team meetings and direct engagement with the nonprofits they serve.

What you'll do#

• Identify 10 viable grants and draft 5 proposals to foundations and grant-making organizations per semester, with at least 3 proposals finalized and submitted by the end of the term.
• Research potential leads for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
• Gather statistics, facts, and relevant local and national information to support grant applications.
• Analyze and identify the specific needs of the nonprofits supported by the grants.
• Comply with all grant reporting requirements for government, foundation, and corporate donors.
• Attend weekly meetings with the intern team and conduct at least one weekly touch-point meeting with the nonprofit organization served.
• Persuasively communicate the mission and programs of the organization to potential funders.

What you'll need#

• Strong persuasive communication, research, and grant writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Current enrollment in a degree program such as Business Administration, Communications, Public Health, Political Science, or Psychology.

• Location: Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Modality: On-site (50% of clocked-in time must be spent at the organization's offices).
• Schedule: 10-20 hours per week.
• Compensation: Paid position.
