About the role#
The Black Gospel Archive (BGA) Student Assistant provides administrative, visitor services, and project support for the Black Gospel Archive at Baylor University. Working with the archive director and staff, this role serves as a primary point of contact for visitors and assists with daily operations to support the mission of the Baylor Libraries and the School of Music.
What you'll do#
- Maintain a professional presence at the front desk.
- Greet visitors, answer questions, and provide orientation to the collections and spaces.
- Prepare the archive for classes, events, meetings, and research activities.
- Support staff in the Riley Digitization Center with digitization, metadata creation, and inventory tasks.
- Assist with the organization, maintenance, and stewardship of archival materials.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A demonstrated interest in archives, music, and cultural preservation.
- Students in History, Communications, Media Studies, Art, or Anthropology are encouraged to apply.
Location & details#
- Location: Moody Library, Waco, Texas.
- Work schedule: Up to 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9 am and 4 pm.
- Employment type: Part-time, paid, on-site.
- Duration: Ongoing.
