About the role#
This summer internship at the Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota, runs from May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027. You will support Section Engineers and the Compliance Program Supervisor with troubleshooting, quality assurance, and monitoring process conditions to meet local, state, and federal regulations. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Verify that Piping and Instrument Diagrams are accurate and complete.
- Take field readings and measurements to collect data for design changes or process monitoring.
- Use software to verify existing designs or create new ones.
- Investigate equipment including control valves, instruments, heat exchangers, pressure relief devices, and pumps under supervision.
- Develop and issue process engineering design packages to suggest process changes.
- Assist with other company functions and assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an EAC/ABET accredited Chemical Engineering program, having completed your sophomore year, or graduation within the last 12 months.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- You must provide a transcript at the time of application.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience is preferred, as is additional coursework or certifications in the field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Location & details#
- This role is located on-site in Beulah, North Dakota.
- The position requires physical activity including frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing. You may work at heights up to 250 feet using safety equipment.
- You will be exposed to various environmental conditions such as noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. The use of respirators or other safety gear may be required.
- You must be able to work rotating shifts as needed.
