About the role#
Base Power Company designs, builds, and installs its own battery hardware. This vertical integration means our supplier choices and deals directly impact our build costs and speed. As a Supply Chain Intern, you will manage sourcing for assigned parts, run the RFQ process, and negotiate terms directly with suppliers. This is an active role where you will manage real parts and make decisions that influence our production costs. You will work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance.
What you'll do#
- Own the sourcing process for specific parts, including building and running RFQs.
- Compare supplier quotes based on cost, lead time, and capacity to make award decisions.
- Negotiate price, payment terms, and lead time directly with suppliers.
- Track savings against the prior baseline.
- Build supplier cost models to evaluate quote accuracy.
- Support the qualification of new suppliers and second sources for critical components by gathering data, samples, and quotes.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding cost, delivery, and quality, and flag risks before they impact the production line.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong spreadsheet skills and experience working with large, messy datasets.
- A genuine interest in how physical products are built.
- Clear and direct written communication skills for managing RFQs and internal escalations.
- A bias for action and the ability to follow through on tasks independently.

- This is an on-site role based in Austin, Texas.
- The position is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
