About the role#
This 10-week summer internship program embeds you within a quantitative team at Barclays. You will work on projects that directly impact our business, including algorithmic trading strategies, model research and development, or the creation of data analysis tools for valuation and risk management. You will gain exposure to areas such as Markets Quantitative Analytics, Risk Quantitative Analytics, and Electronic Trading.
What you'll do#
- Execute research projects to support strategic decision making.
- Develop and implement financial models and strategies.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate your findings to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
- Identify new market opportunities and help develop business cases for new products.
- Participate in training and development programs to build technical and leadership skills.
- Manage client relationships and provide support for products and services.
- Train and mentor junior colleagues.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a PhD or Master’s degree in a technical field such as statistics, computer science, mathematics, physics, quantitative finance, or operations research.
- An ideal GPA of 3.2 or above.
- Strong mathematical and programming skills, preferably in Java, C++, or Python.
- A talent for logical thinking and creative problem solving.
- A resourceful, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on teamwork.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2027.
- The role is based on-site at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue in New York City.
