About the role#
Bank Independent offers a summer internship program for college students to gain hands-on experience in the financial services industry. This 12 to 16 week program focuses on banking processes and how different departments interrelate. You will work alongside experienced bankers to learn the fundamentals of the business. You will contribute to a specific department and have opportunities to shadow other areas of the bank.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to a specific department within the bank.
- Shadow other departments to gain a broad understanding of operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Maintain professionalism when handling sensitive information and confidential data.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active junior or senior college student in a related field such as Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or Psychology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage eyestrain from checking work accuracy.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent face-to-face and phone-based customer service skills.
- Commitment to the Bank Independent Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Location & details#
- Locations: Decatur, Muscle Shoals, and Huntsville, Alabama.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, up to 30 hours per week.
- Availability: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Status: Paid internship.
