About the role#
This position is exclusively for current Summer 2026 Baker Tilly interns looking to transition into a full-time role within the Specialty Tax practice. You will work with clients across various industries to identify and maximize federal, state, and local tax incentives. This role requires a willingness to travel to client sites and Baker Tilly office locations.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the preparation of tax credit and cost segregation studies.
- Assist clients in identifying, qualifying for, and maximizing tax credits to improve cash flow and reduce tax liability.
- Conduct technical research and draft memoranda related to R&D tax credits and fixed asset matters.
- Participate in project planning and attend site visits to perform construction cost estimations and identify qualifying assets.
- Develop industry expertise to deliver proactive, data-driven R&D and fixed asset strategies.
- Collaborate with team members to document credit claims and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Outstanding academic performance, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Relevant internship or work experience and involvement with professional organizations.
- Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving complex tax and data-driven challenges.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability in time management, communication, and interpersonal collaboration.

- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Locations include Seattle, WA; Rancho Cordova, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; Irvine, CA; Dallas, TX; and Portland, OR.
