Atomic Semi is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns for the Fall 2027 term. This role involves rebuilding the chip fabrication process from the ground up, offering exposure to interdisciplinary engineering projects spanning structures, optics, robotics, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry. Interns will work in an early-stage startup environment with significant ownership over mission-critical tasks, with a focus on rapid design and testing cycles.
What you'll do#
- Design, prototype, and build semiconductor fabrication equipment.
- Perform detailed analysis and simulations to evaluate electromechanical designs.
- Author mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to drive prototypes into production.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A strong foundation in mechanical engineering, including proficiency in CAD software (such as Solidworks or Onshape), simulation, and materials selection.
- Documented hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly design and analysis from coursework, previous internships, or personal projects.
- Proven ability to move through design cycles quickly and troubleshoot technical problems.
- A portfolio demonstrating experience building medium-to-high complexity systems.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position with an annualized range of $105,000 – $126,000, plus a housing stipend.
- Status: Full-time.
