Fab Software Engineering Intern - Fall

About the role#

Atomic Semi is seeking Software Engineering Interns to join the Fab team for the Fall 2027 term. This is a hands-on, multi-domain role focused on building the software-defined infrastructure required to operate a semiconductor fab. You will contribute to the development of full-stack applications and tools that directly support the sequencing and control of fabrication equipment and the analysis of process development data. The team operates with a philosophy of rapid iteration, aiming to build and test features in days or weeks.

What you'll do#

• Develop frontend and backend, data-driven applications to run the fab.
• Build software for sequencing and controlling fab operations.
• Collaborate with engineers across mechanical, electrical, and hardware domains to own the stack from atoms to architecture.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or demonstrated exceptional skill in software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Rust and Go or TypeScript, with a strong desire to continue learning.
• A solid understanding of systems fundamentals, including memory, performance, and concurrency.
• Proven experience building non-trivial software projects from scratch, whether through personal, academic, or professional work.
• Interest in areas such as databases, visualization, or data processing pipelines.
• Familiarity with or interest in interactive software, schema evolution, distributed systems, or 2D/3D visualization is a plus.

• Term: Fall 2027 (preferred commitment of 4 to 8 months).
• Compensation: Paid position with an annualized range of $110,000 – $132,000, plus a housing stipend.
• Employment: Full-time.
