Embedded Software Engineering Intern - Fall

About the role#

Atomic Semi is seeking Embedded Software Engineering Interns for the Fall 2027 term. You will join an integrated engineering team focused on building semiconductor fabrication equipment. This role involves working on high-performance tools and addressing complex engineering challenges across fields including structures, optics, liquids, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry. Candidates should be familiar with end-to-end system bring-up and demonstrate a track record of building and testing projects.

What you'll do#

• Develop real-time Linux applications and microcontroller firmware using Rust to control semiconductor fabrication equipment.
• Build backend systems designed to capture and analyze semiconductor process data.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to solve integrated engineering problems.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, C, or C++.
• Experience with low-level systems programming and a solid understanding of embedded systems and OS concepts, such as Linux or RTOS.
• Practical experience with microcontroller programming and knowledge of peripherals including ADC, GPIO, PWM, SPI, and I2C.
• A portfolio demonstrating software engineering projects and technical curiosity.

• Compensation: $110,000 – $132,000 annualized range, plus a housing stipend.
