About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Transportation Planning Intern to join our team in Orlando, Florida. This is a paid internship opportunity for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside industry professionals on various transportation projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform analytical and investigative tasks, including traffic and crash data collection and management.
- Conduct field reviews of project study areas, such as pedestrian and bicycle demand studies, signal operations reviews, and traffic circulation studies.
- Assist with technical tasks for urban and corridor planning studies and prepare documentation for governmental acceptance.
- Support signal retiming, traffic impact studies, and highway safety studies.
- Perform traffic operations, engineering, and capacity analysis on roadway networks for intersections, corridors, and regional systems.
- Help develop design alternatives to improve safety and operations across networks.
What you'll need#
- You must be a Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate student.
- You must have completed 60 hours toward a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
- Interest in traffic operations, safety, or planning.
- Experience with HCM, Synchro, HCS+, or VISSIM is preferred.
