About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resilience and Emergency Management Intern for the Spring 2027 term. You will join our Los Angeles office to support a team focused on disaster recovery, grant management, and infrastructure planning for public-sector clients. This role offers hands-on experience in the field of emergency management and resilience.
What you'll do#
- Support resilience, emergency management, and planning projects through research, data collection, and document development.
- Review, organize, and track grant applications, reimbursement requests, and project records to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Prepare materials including correspondence, meeting summaries, presentations, reports, and briefing documents for internal and client use.
- Maintain project information across systems such as SharePoint, databases, and dashboards.
- Conduct research and analysis, including data visualization, mapping, GIS support, and reviews of program policies.
- Perform quality assurance and control reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency in project deliverables.
- Collaborate with grants specialists, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to support project execution and public engagement.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours toward a degree from an accredited college or university by the start of the internship.
- Preferred fields of study include Emergency Management, Public Policy, Political Science, Geography/GIS, Environmental Studies, Planning, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or Communications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools like Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Experience with spreadsheets, data entry, and document review.
- Exposure to tools such as ArcGIS, Power BI, Smartsheet, or Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
- No professional experience is required.
