About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is hiring an ITS/Traffic Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in our Tampa, Florida office. You will work directly with our engineering team to support transportation design projects and related technical tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist the team with transportation design, plan production, calculations, and project documentation.
- Help with traffic signalization, ITS, signing, and pavement marking tasks.
- Use software like OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D to support drawings and CADD production.
- Review field notes, as-builts, and existing conditions to support design work.
- Participate in field reviews, project coordination meetings, and team discussions.
- Handle administrative and engineering tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 60 hours toward a Civil or Electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong math skills for performing simple calculations.
- A clear interest in traffic engineering, ITS, and transportation design.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn technical design workflows.
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer and Civil 3D is preferred.
