About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Physics Co-op Student to join our Engineering division for the Winter 2027 term. This position offers hands-on experience by supporting various engineering projects and functional management. You will work alongside our Core Physics Team to gain practical insights into the nuclear industry. We have openings for 4, 8, 12, or 16-month terms starting in January 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and discipline leads with daily tasks, including preparing inputs for and running reactor physics codes.
- Support analyses related to reactor design, operation, and safety.
- Develop and assemble engineering, physics, and math deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems.
- Adapt or modify computer codes for specialized applications.
- Coordinate tasks across multidisciplinary teams and project sectors.
- Facilitate document reviews and RFI responses while attending technical meetings.
- Help with departmental administrative tasks and maintain a team-oriented environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited Canadian university.
- A strong foundation in physics and mathematics, with knowledge in reactor, nuclear, or particle physics considered an asset.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as C++, Python, or FORTRAN.
- Familiarity with design tools like MATLAB, ETAP, and MathCAD.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to apply theoretical principles to practical engineering solutions.
- Strong communication, planning, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is mandatory.
