Environmental Sustainability Intern - Fall 2026

About the role#

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Environmental Sustainability Intern for the Fall 2026 term to work from our Charlotte, NC office. This is a full-time, paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in sustainability management and environmental consulting.

What you'll do#

• Support the management of the US Sustainability Management Action Plan.
• Collaborate with internal task leads to track progress toward sustainability goals.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
• Manage project-related communications and assist in the creation of public-facing materials.
• Attend and document coordination meetings between project teams, clients, and government agencies.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program, with a preference for Master’s level students in Environmental Engineering, Sociology, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), environmental impact statements, and relevant regulations.
• Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (such as LEED or Envision) and concepts like carbon footprint calculation or lifecycle assessments.
• Demonstrated interest through coursework or participation in campus and community sustainability initiatives.
• Strong technical writing and reporting abilities.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills for data entry into spreadsheets and databases.

• Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (On-site).
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Compensation: $23 - $29 per hour, based on skills and experience.
