Cost control Co-op Student

About the role#

This is a 4, 8, 12, or 16-month co-op position focused on cost control, accounting, and financial planning for large-scale engineering projects. The role reports to the Project Control Manager and requires a 37.5-hour work week.

What you'll do#

• Manage project cost accounts and charging codes.
• Set up and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in operation systems.
• Support invoice preparation by providing cost support information.
• Match invoices to purchase orders to verify alignment with commitments and initiate workflow approvals in the CMMS.
• Perform incurred cost reconciliation and develop cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare accruals for procurement and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to assess progress and generate ad hoc reports.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a degree program (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Nursing), with preference given to engineering students in their 3rd year or higher.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite, with specific expertise in MS Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
• Working knowledge of financial processes, ideally within construction or engineering projects.
• Familiarity with power plant technology and CANDU nuclear generating stations is considered an asset.
• Experience with Primavera P6 and Oracle 12 is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
