About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Construction Engineering Intern for our Austin, Texas office. You will join our team for the Summer 2027 term to gain hands-on experience in transportation construction projects. This is a paid, part-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Observe and document roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic-control activities.
- Review construction plans and specifications with project staff to understand contract requirements.
- Track and coordinate contractor submittals, RFIs, change-order documentation, action items, and project correspondence.
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and other project personnel.
- Prepare spreadsheets, meeting notes, status reports, and progress updates.
- Assist staff with verifying construction quantities and preparing pay-estimate documentation.
What you'll need#
- Completion of 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by Summer 2027.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- A willingness to learn.
- Ability to work safely in both office and active construction environments.

- Compensation: $25 - $31 hourly, depending on skills and experience.
