About the role#
Astra is hiring interns for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Alameda, California. Successful applicants will be matched to specific teams based on their skills and company needs. This position is paid at $22/hr.
What you'll do#
- Work with senior engineers to design, develop, and test spacecraft and launch vehicle hardware.
- Support requirements definition, interface management, and integration activities for flight systems.
- Assist with CAD modeling, design for manufacturability, and structural or thermal design of components.
- Participate in test campaigns to validate designs against flight requirements.
- Prepare engineering drawings, test reports, and design documentation.
What you'll need#
- You must be an incoming Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at a 4-yr institution or junior/community college.
- Hands-on project experience through internships, research, senior design projects, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Motivation to learn in a new environment.
- Eligibility to work under U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, including ITAR and EAR regulations.
