About the role#
Astra is seeking motivated students to join our team for the Fall 2026 term. This internship provides the opportunity to contribute to the development of spacecraft and launch vehicle systems. Successful applicants will be matched to specific teams based on their skills, interests, and company needs. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and test spacecraft and launch vehicle hardware.
- Support requirements definition, interface management, and integration activities for flight systems.
- Assist with CAD modeling, design for manufacturability, and structural or thermal design of components.
- Participate in test campaigns to validate designs against flight requirements.
- Prepare engineering drawings, test reports, and design documentation.
- Support organizational infrastructure across various business and technical departments.
What you'll need#
- Must be an incoming Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at a 4-year institution or junior/community college.
- Pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Hands-on project experience gained through internships, research, senior design projects, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Motivation to learn and contribute to complex engineering challenges.
Location & details#
- Location: Alameda, California.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22 per hour.
- Note: This position requires compliance with U.S. government space technology trade restrictions, including ITAR and EAR. Applicants must be documented U.S. Persons or able to receive a trade license.
