Astra is seeking motivated students to join our team for the Fall 2026 term. Interns will work on advanced spacecraft and launch vehicle systems, with placements determined based on individual skills, interests, and current company needs. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position located in Alameda, California.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and test spacecraft and launch vehicle hardware.
- Support requirements definition, interface management, and integration activities for flight systems.
- Assist with CAD modeling, design for manufacturability, and structural or thermal design of components.
- Perform structural, thermal, or fluid analyses and contribute to trade studies.
- Participate in test campaigns, including vibration, thermal-vacuum, and propulsion performance testing, to validate designs against flight requirements.
- Prepare engineering drawings, test reports, and design documentation to industry standards.
- Support organizational infrastructure across various business and technical disciplines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at a 4-year institution or junior/community college.
- Hands-on project experience gained through internships, research, senior design projects, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- A high level of motivation to learn.
- Ability to comply with U.S. Government space technology trade regulations (ITAR/EAR), requiring status as a documented U.S. Person.
