About the role#
The Classroom Student Assistant II provides direct care and supervision for children from birth through kindergarten. You will work under the guidance of program teachers and supervisors to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. This position is on-site and requires regular attendance to meet state staffing ratios.
What you'll do#
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to meet their developmental needs.
- Assist teachers with daily routines including meals, naps, diapering, and toileting.
- Document routine activities and help with child assessments and developmental profiles.
- Maintain the classroom environment by setting up activities and assisting with cleaning.
- Interact positively with families, staff, and clients to provide customer service.
- Attend mandatory training meetings and participate in performance reviews.
- Follow health and safety policies as outlined in the ASI Children’s Center manuals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in at least 6 units at Sacramento State with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Current health screening, TB clearance, and proof of immunizations for Measles and Pertussis.
- Ability to attend mandatory Monday night training meetings.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, kneel, squat, and sit on the floor.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with children, a Child Development Permit at the Assistant Level, and CPR or First Aid certifications.
