About the role#
ASRC Federal is seeking a Computer Scientist Intern to join the Weather Systems group in Oklahoma City. This role provides engineering support for weather radar systems, including the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar and the Weather Surveillance Radar 1988 Doppler. Interns will work in a cubicle environment and must be available to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the semester.
What you'll do#
- Research, maintain, and enhance weather system software while documenting and testing updates.
- Draft, review, edit, and coordinate technical reports and drawings.
- Conduct market research to assess requirements for replacing end-of-life hardware.
- Identify operational needs and drive process improvements.
- Provide software development support using C, C++, and Python.
- Support lab operations through maintenance and hardware integration activities.
- Develop software solutions for configuring and interfacing with system devices.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a U.S. accredited institution.
- Completion of a minimum of 48 STEM-related courses.
- Proficiency with UNIX, AIX, or Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages and scripts, specifically C, C++, and Python.
- Knowledge of the importance of testing during the software development process.
- Ability to obtain an FAA Public Trust security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and residency in the U.S. for the past three consecutive years.
