About the role#
ASRC Federal is seeking a Computer Scientist Intern to join the Weather Systems group in Oklahoma City. This role provides second-level engineering support for weather radar systems, including the TDWR and WSR-88D, as well as other weather sensors. You will work on-site at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.
What you'll do#
- Research, maintain, and enhance weather system software, including documenting and testing updates.
- Draft, review, edit, and coordinate technical reports and drawings.
- Conduct market research to assess requirements for replacing end-of-life hardware.
- Identify operational needs and drive process improvements.
- Provide software development support using C, C++, and Python.
- Support lab operations through maintenance, software development, and hardware integration.
- Develop software solutions for configuring and interfacing with system devices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a U.S. accredited institution.
- Completion of at least 48 STEM-related courses.
- Proficiency with UNIX, AIX, or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with programming languages and scripts including C, C++, and Python.
- Understanding of the importance of testing throughout the software development process.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, multi-task, and communicate effectively.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have resided in the U.S. for three consecutive years to meet Federal Background Investigation and FAA Public Trust security clearance requirements.
