    About the role#

    The Financial Innovation Laboratory (FIL) in Silicon Valley is seeking a Research Science Intern to join our team. You will work on practical research problems, primarily involving AI, to address customer challenges across finance, insurance, and the Internet of Things. You will be assigned to projects that align with your skills and interests, working alongside experienced scientists to build innovative systems and solutions.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and develop innovative algorithms and solutions for finance, insurance, and the Internet of Things.
    • Prepare and execute proof-of-concepts in collaboration with other researchers.
    • Publish technical results in leading conferences and file patents.

    What you'll need#

    • Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Operational Research, or a related field.
    • Strong research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or financial mathematics.
    • Proficiency in programming and experience with data science tools and libraries in Python (preferred) or similar languages.
    • Ability to effectively create and deliver technical communications, including patent applications, presentations, papers, and reports.
    • Self-motivated, with a passion for solving real-world problems and building systems with big data analytics.
    • Experience with multicore programming, databases, cloud deployment, or time series analysis is a plus.

    • Location: Santa Clara, California
    • Schedule: Full-time
    • Modality: On-site
    • Compensation: $30 - $38 per hour, with eligibility for the variable pay program
    • Status: Paid internship
