About the role#
The Financial Innovation Laboratory (FIL) at Hitachi is seeking a Research Science Intern to work on practical research problems. You will work on projects involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics to address customer challenges in finance, insurance, and the Internet of Things. You will be paired with a mentor to guide your work as you build solutions and gain practical experience in a research environment.
What you'll do#
- Research and develop innovative algorithms and solutions for finance, insurance, and the Internet of Things.
- Prepare and execute proof-of-concepts in collaboration with other researchers.
- Publish technical results in leading conferences and contribute to patent filings.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D team members to deliver technical reports, papers, and presentations.
What you'll need#
- Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate status in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Operational Research, or a related field.
- Strong research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or financial mathematics.
- Proficiency in programming and data science tools, with a strong preference for Python.
- Ability to solve real-world problems and build innovative systems using big data analytics.
- Excellent communication skills for creating technical documentation, patent applications, and research reports.
- Experience with multicore programming, databases, cloud deployment, and time series analysis is considered a plus.
