About the role#
The Culinary/Pastry Externship at Aspen One provides students with hands-on training across various kitchen outlets, including Element 47, Ajax Tavern, Banquets, and the Aspen Mountain Club. You will work under the guidance of the Executive Sous Chef to gain a comprehensive understanding of food product knowledge and daily food and beverage operations. This is a full-time, paid externship designed for students seeking academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the culinary department to enhance your understanding of food products and operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of your station and work area throughout your shift.
- Label all products and keep walk-in coolers and freezers organized.
- Complete daily mise en place lists at the end of every shift.
- Follow proper sanitation procedures and practice efficient product utilization.
- Support other culinary departments as business demands require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university program requiring an internship for class credit.
- At least 6 months of work experience in hospitality, restaurants, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of safe cooking techniques and principles.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work in environments that may be wet, hot, or humid.
