About the role#
This internship with the Applied AI and Bioinformatics team offers hands-on experience in clinical laboratory informatics. You will work under the guidance of a senior data scientist mentor on projects involving machine learning and artificial intelligence. The role focuses on practical application in areas like digital pathology, flow cytometry, and next generation sequencing.
What you'll do#
- Perform exploratory data analysis on clinical datasets.
- Train machine learning or deep learning models.
- Develop AI agents to support laboratory workflows.
- Attend weekly team meetings and standups to track progress.
- Present your final analysis or product to medical directors and data scientists.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency with Python data analysis tools.
- Basic understanding of laboratory information science.
- Ability to work in a biohazard laboratory environment and follow safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Sciences, or Biology.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14, 2026, to December 14, 2026).
- Schedule: Less than 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
