About the role#
The Management Intern for Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services (SAILS) assists with the daily coordination and administration of captioning and transcript accommodations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring students with disabilities receive timely access to educational content. You will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinator Senior to support the intake, assignment, tracking, and quality review of requests for instructional media and university events.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and process incoming captioning and transcript requests submitted through the accessibility management system.
- Coordinate the assignment of requests to vendors and internal staff while balancing workloads to meet academic deadlines.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure completed work meets departmental standards for accuracy, synchronization, and formatting.
- Maintain communication with faculty, staff, and students regarding request status and timelines.
- Assist with training and mentoring student workers assigned to Accessible Media Services.
- Support ongoing service improvement efforts through effective documentation and data management.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma and at least two years of experience in a related field.
- A Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a graduate degree program in a related field, such as Communications, Business Administration, Public Health, Human Resources, or Psychology.
- Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG, and accessibility principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at the Tempe campus, though travel to other ASU campuses or off-campus events may be required.
- This is a part-time role (20 hours per week) with a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends.
- This is a short-term internship position with a maximum duration of 12 months, with the possibility of a one-year extension based on performance.
