About the role#
The Assistant Director of Student Advocacy and Assistance provides leadership and operational oversight for Advocacy Coordinator Seniors across multiple campus locations. You will ensure the consistent delivery of student advocacy services, oversee high-level case management, and promote best practices in crisis response and student support. This role involves supervising professional staff, providing consultation on sensitive situations, and collaborating with university leadership and community partners to develop strategies that promote student success and retention.
What you'll do#
- Recruit, supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate Advocacy Coordinator Seniors.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex student situations.
- Manage a high-level caseload and coordinate individualized action plans for students.
- Monitor for quality assurance, case documentation, and compliance with university policies, FERPA, and regulations.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with university leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Lead team meetings and facilitate cross-campus communication.
- Support victims impacted by sexual, domestic, or interpersonal violence and harassment.
- Provide consultation to students, faculty, and staff regarding student concerns.
- Serve as a member of the Student Crisis Fund committee.
- Manage sensitive and confidential student information.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree and three years of experience appropriate to the field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Experience in Psychology, Sociology, or related fields.
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field is desired.
- Three or more years of professional staff recruitment, coaching, and supervision experience within a multi-campus model is preferred.
- Experience with complex case management, crisis management, and response in higher education is desired.
- Experience assessing student needs, implementing support measures, and coordinating with community partners.
- Familiarity with case management tools and databases.

- This position is based on-site in Tempe, Arizona.
- This is a full-time, permanent role.
- Travel to other campus locations is required.
