About the role#
Ardurra is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027 in Knoxville, Tennessee. This full-time, paid internship provides exposure to real-world engineering projects for municipalities and public agencies. You will work alongside a team of professionals to build your technical skills and gain experience in the civil engineering industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and analysis of transportation infrastructure, including roadways, drainage, signing, and pavement markings.
- Prepare technical memoranda, engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Perform engineering calculations, material quantity take-offs, and transportation modeling.
- Participate in site inspections, field tests, measurements, and investigations.
- Support project scheduling, regulatory compliance documentation, and permitting efforts.
- Contact vendors for budget quotes and help develop construction cost estimates.
- Review design drawings for accuracy and adherence to standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with Bentley or Autodesk software is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
