About the role#
The Ecological Engineering Intern supports environmental projects under the supervision of senior ecologists. You will gain practical experience in ecological fieldwork, wetlands evaluations, and regulatory processes. This role involves a mix of office tasks and outdoor field work in Orlando.
What you'll do#
- Assist with ecological field investigations including wetlands delineations, protected species observations, and natural habitat assessments.
- Collect, document, and organize field data, including preparing and transcribing field notes.
- Support the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and documentation regarding environmental impacts, biological evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform basic GIS/GPS data collection and assist with processing field data.
- Assist with upland and wetland evaluations and environmental assessments.
- Review project documentation and drawings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging field conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
