Transportation Engineering Intern

About the role#

Arcadis is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join the Mobility team in Markham, Ontario. This full-time, paid internship begins in Fall 2026 and focuses on transportation projects, including BRT/LRT traffic signal and intersection design assignments. You will work alongside senior engineers on detailed design projects.

What you'll do#

• Prepare engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Develop contract documents, including project schedules, specifications, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs using MS Office.
• Assist with traffic signal, street lighting, and roadway design work.
• Implement Design and Traffic Quality Systems Procedures in accordance with ISO 9001.
• Coordinate quality management activities and site condition rating checklists.
• Prepare audit plans and checklists, and schedule internal quality audits.
• Maintain records for the Traffic and Design Quality Management Systems.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering program with 2-3 years of study completed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous design experience with AutoCAD and Microstation is considered an asset.
• Previous work experience with construction contractors or utility companies is considered an asset.
