Construction Inspector Intern

About the role#

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Inspector Intern to support sustainable design and engineering projects. This role involves active participation in a green infrastructure mentorship program, focusing on environmentally friendly construction practices. You will work on-site to ensure project compliance, safety, and effective communication between contractors, owners, and city agencies.

What you'll do#

• Conduct daily inspections to supervise construction activities, ensuring site safety and adherence to permit conditions.
• Perform on-site measurements, track quantities, and assist with design work throughout the construction process.
• Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and expert tracking records.
• Facilitate and attend field meetings with contractors and owners to review project progress, schedules, and remaining work.
• Act as an ambassador for the city’s urban forest resources when interacting with residents and landowners.
• Administer health and safety procedures as required by the owner and project manuals.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
• Ability to read and interpret design plans, specifications, and shop drawing submittals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Prior internship or related experience in construction or civil engineering is preferred.
• Preferred certifications include OSHA 10 and EIT.
• Experience with Capital Contract Supervision or Construction/Restoration Oversight is preferred.
