Stormwater Intern

About the role#

As a Stormwater Intern, you will work under the direction of a Senior Stormwater Engineer on diverse roadway drainage and design-build projects. This role involves contributing to infrastructure developments across the southeast, including collector streets, urban arterials, expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements. You will balance tasks between office environments and field settings.

What you'll do#

• Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design, including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post-construction water quality structures, and erosion and sedimentation control.
• Prepare construction plans, project displays, cost estimates, reports, and technical memos.
• Utilize design software such as MicroStation, Inroads, GeoPak, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-MS, HY8, FlowMaster, Pond Pack, CulvertMaster, ICPR, StormCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
• Work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Prior experience with drainage design.
• Proficiency or experience with software platforms such as Bentley’s StormCAD, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, Pond Pack, HEC-RAS, HEC-MS, HY8, ICPR, or SWMM.
