About the role#
The Computational Modeling Team creates engine and propulsion technologies using digital tools. We use AI and simulations to speed up the design of efficient transportation technology. As a graduate intern, you will work with research scientists to improve AI-driven automation inside our CFD-in-the-loop design optimization framework. You will also contribute to ongoing projects within the team.
What you'll do#
- Improve automation for CFD-in-the-loop design optimization.
- Collaborate with research scientists on current projects.
- Apply machine learning and simulation techniques to engine design.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate program (MS or PhD) for the duration of the internship.
- A major in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering.
- Python programming skills, with C or C++ as an added benefit.
- Experience with CAD, geometry modeling, meshing, and CFD pre-processing.
- Knowledge of design of experiments, surrogate modeling, Gaussian processes, Bayesian optimization, and active learning.
- Exposure to CFD tools and HPC environments.
- Background in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or scikit-learn and LLM-based coding agents.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
