About the role#
Applied Composites is hiring an engineering intern to provide support across our manufacturing, testing, and design groups. This role offers supervised training for students or recent graduates preparing for a career in the aerospace industry. You will work on-site in Los Alamitos, California.
What you'll do#
- Provide engineering support to different functional areas.
- Use engineering software like CREO, FEMAP, and Nastran to create solid models, drawings, and finite element analysis results.
- Perform hands-on fabrication of aerospace hardware using machining equipment, tools, and assembly fixtures.
- Assist the test group with planning, conducting, documenting, and reporting test results.
- Create Work Instruction documents and engineering presentations using Microsoft Office.
What you'll need#
- At least two years of progress toward a Bachelor or Master degree in aerospace, mechanical, or structural engineering.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Up to two years of relevant work experience.
- Understanding of structural mechanics and the ability to perform hand calculations for structural analysis verification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with composite materials or solid modeling software is a plus.
- You must be a U.S. person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
