About the role#
Viracon is seeking Manufacturing Engineering Interns for the summer of 2027. This position offers hands-on experience in a production environment. You will work alongside engineering and production teams to gain practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and operations. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Owatonna, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor learning how things are built.
- Work with engineering and production teams on active projects.
- Identify ways to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Collect and analyze production data.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Support projects related to process improvement, equipment, tooling, and layout.
- Help with time studies, process documentation, and work instructions.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help implement engineering solutions and see projects through to completion.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing and hands-on engineering work.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
