About the role#
This Continuous Improvement Co-Op position is based in Granite City, Illinois. You will join the Continuous Improvement department to support automated systems, working from the initial design and prototype stages through to the final installation and handover to operations. Your time will be split between the manufacturing floor and the office.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
- Support the development and build of automated systems.
- Improve production functionality on an ongoing basis.
- Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a BS degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Academic or work experience developing electromechanical systems, including software and controls for robotics and automation.
- Ability to work 20 hours per week during the school term and near full-time during the summer.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work well with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Preferred experience includes AutoCAD, 3D modeling, PLC/HMI, ROS, 2D/3D computer vision, and 6-axis robot programming.

- Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus program.
- This is a paid, rolling internship.
