About the role#
Amsted Rail is looking for an Engineering Co-Op to join the team in Granite City, Illinois. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work alongside engineers, maintenance professionals, machinists, and production teams on projects that impact daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering and manufacturing improvement projects.
- Create and revise CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Assist with CNC programming, tooling, and process development.
- Help design fixtures, workholding, and production solutions.
- Analyze production data using Excel and other software tools.
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Follow all plant safety and environmental requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Availability to work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during summer and winter breaks.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with CAD software (Creo preferred).
- Exposure to CNC machining, manufacturing, or CAM software.
- Previous internship, co-op, or technical work experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing.
Location & details#
- Location: Granite City, Illinois.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18 per hour for sophomores, $19 per hour for juniors, and $20 per hour for seniors.
