    About the role#

    Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders provide academic support for students in historically challenging courses. You will attend class, review course materials, and lead weekly review sessions to help your peers understand the content.

    What you'll do#

    • Attend the supported course, take notes, and keep up with assignments.
    • Plan and facilitate one or two weekly review sessions.
    • Manage administrative tasks like distributing sign-in sheets and end-of-semester surveys.
    • Attend ongoing tutor training and cohort meetings.
    • Conduct peer observations of other SI Leaders.
    • Meet with SI staff and the supported faculty member at least twice per semester.
    • Complete time sheets and required surveys on time.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a currently enrolled student at American University.

    Location & details#

    • This role is located on the American University campus in Washington, DC.
    • The position requires 7 to 10 hours of work per week.
    • Pay is between $18.40 and $20.00 per hour.
    • This is a part-time position that renews on a semester basis based on enrollment and faculty needs.
