The Research & Grants intern will support the American Heart Association by managing award compliance and providing administrative support for active grants. This role involves maintaining accurate records, assisting with data quality reviews, and supporting management with special projects. This is a paid, remote internship opportunity designed for students to gain practical experience in a non-profit environment.
What you'll do#
- Monitor awards to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide support for active awards, handle change requests, and respond to inquiries from awardees and institutional personnel.
- Conduct data quality reviews to verify the accuracy of information and payments for transferring or terminating awards.
- Manage and organize record retention for award agreements and payment documentation.
- Assist management with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current college senior or graduate student status, with a preference for majors in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Administration, Political Science, or Economics.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Experience in grant research or grants administration within an academic or funding organization is preferred.
- Prior experience managing projects is preferred.

- Time Zone Preference: East Coast or Central Time Zone.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Schedule: Part-time.
