Intern, Marketing & Communications

About the role#

The American Heart Association is seeking a Marketing & Communications Intern to support the promotion of health initiatives, research, and campaigns. This role provides hands-on experience within a non-profit health organization, offering exposure to marketing, public relations, and corporate communications strategies. Interns will collaborate across multiple departments to assist in executing media and outreach efforts.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development of news releases, press materials, and media alerts.
• Create social media content, including video editing, reel production, and drafting post copy.
• Coordinate event day communications, including preparing speakers and managing media interviews.
• Prepare marketing collateral such as scripts and PowerPoint presentations.
• Contribute ideas for strategic marketing and public relations campaigns.
• Research potential media collaborators and track media coverage to prepare campaign reports.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a senior or graduate student in journalism, communications, public health, or marketing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Canva.
• Ability to work professionally with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Location & details#

• Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026 – December 11, 2026).
• Modality: Remote, with a requirement to be located in the Cleveland or Northeast Ohio area.
• Compensation: Paid position at $23.00 per hour.
