    About the role#

    This internship provides hands-on experience within a non-profit health organization, specifically supporting the Development Team for the Affair of the Heart and Heart Ball events. The role involves contributing to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these community initiatives.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the planning, coordination, and logistics for community events.
    • Conduct pre-event outreach and follow-up calls to participants, coaches, and survivors.
    • Prepare materials for sponsor presentations and assist with post-meeting follow-up.
    • Manage data entry, pull reports, and organize event-related information.
    • Prepare printed materials and organize event supplies.

    What you'll need#

    • Current senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Health, Political Science, Marketing, Public Relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
    • High proficiency in Canva and intermediate to excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort interacting with community leaders and volunteers.
    • Proficiency in multiple social media platforms.
    • Reliable transportation to and from Roanoke and Glen Allen, VA, with the ability to travel to other locations in Southwest Virginia as needed.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Location & details#

    • Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026 – December 11, 2026).
    • Work Modality: Hybrid.
    • Location: Glen Allen and Roanoke, Virginia.
    • Compensation: Paid at $23.00 per hour.
    • Schedule: 20-25 hours per week.
