The American Heart Association is seeking an intern for the Development Team in Irving, Texas, for the Fall 2026 term. This program provides hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, specifically supporting the Go Red for Women and Heart Ball campaigns in the Dallas area. You will gain practical skills in fundraising, event planning, and community engagement while working alongside development coordinators and directors.
What you'll do#
- Support fundraising campaigns and assist with data entry and report generation.
- Conduct online research to identify connections to lapsed companies.
- Assist in the planning and execution of events, including day-of support and gathering materials.
- Develop event collateral such as invitations, save-the-dates, and event programs.
- Coordinate with companies to maintain event timelines and follow up on meeting materials.
- Assist with Hands-only CPR events and execute the Run of Show for core events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a senior or graduate student in business, communications, public health, marketing, psychology, non-profit management, or event management.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with Canva is a plus.
- Strong written communication skills and comfort with public speaking in both group and one-on-one settings.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Confidence in performing vendor outreach via phone and email.
- Reliable transportation and a reliable WiFi connection.
Location & details#
- Location: Irving, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026 – December 11, 2026).
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Commitment: 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, with some evening or weekend event requirements.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship at $23.00 per hour.
- Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
