About the role#
As a Project Solutions Intern, you will work alongside experienced project managers to support the delivery of safe, reliable, and affordable energy. This summer internship program lasts 10 to 12 weeks and provides exposure to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and business operations. You will contribute to projects across American Electric Power, including generation, transmission, distribution, and corporate operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with planning, organizing, and coordinating daily project activities.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and status reports.
- Participate in team meetings to document action items and key decisions.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, risks, and issues.
- Prepare presentations, dashboards, and various project reports.
- Collect and analyze project data to support business decisions.
- Facilitate communication between team members, business partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Assist with procurement, contract, and project controls activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Promote safety and operational excellence while developing your leadership and problem-solving skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree program in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your freshman year of college.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team.
- Preferred qualifications include a 3.0 GPA, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and demonstrated leadership through academic or work experience.

- Locations include Columbus, Ohio; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
