About the role#
American Electric Power offers a 10 to 12 week paid internship program during Summer 2027. This full-time position is based on-site in Corpus Christi, Texas. Interns work with project teams to support the planning, design, and execution of enterprise resource projects while gaining exposure to the electric utility industry.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project teams and engineers on the planning, design, and execution of enterprise resource projects.
- Take part in design reviews, training sessions, and constructability assessments to support safety and operational standards.
- Visit operational facilities to assist with inspections and tests.
- Develop and analyze databases, reports, cost estimates, and dashboards.
- Support documentation for initiatives and decision-making processes.
- Learn about safety culture by following guidelines in both office and field environments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Completion of at least your freshman year.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- Ability to work on-site in Corpus Christi, Texas.

- Compensation: Pay ranges from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour based on education hours.
- Housing: A $1,500 per month housing stipend is available for those moving more than 45 miles from their home address.
